| Reverse description | A schematically rendered castle or tower with crenellated battlements occupies the central field, depicted rising above a representation of the sea rendered as a horizontal band of waves at the base. The design is enclosed within a beaded or plain inner circle, with the partial Latin devotional legend distributed around the periphery. The strike is characteristic of crude emergency hammered coinage, with the castle motif — a heraldic symbol of Castile — boldly if roughly executed. The irregular flan causes portions of both the design and the surrounding legend to be partially off the coin. |
