| Obverse description | Crude draped bust of Philip V facing left, struck in low relief on an irregular flan typical of hammered billon coinage. The portrait is rendered in a simplified, provincial style with minimal facial detail. A partial Latin legend encircles the effigy, reading + PHILIPVS · V · R · ARAGO with the numeral 2 completing the inscription. The overall strike is characteristic of the small-denomination hammered issues produced for Majorca during the early eighteenth century. |

The Dobler was Majorca's smallest billon denomination, and its continued production under Felipe V reflects the island's persistent need for low-value coinage that the mainland mints rarely prioritized. Felipe V's claim to the Spanish throne triggered the War of the Spanish Succession, and Majorca held out as a Habsburg stronghold until 1715 — meaning early issues of this type were struck under a king whose sovereignty over the island was actively contested by the population using the coins.
