The obverse legend reads LVDOVICVS FRANCORVM REX, identifying the issuer as Louis XII, King of France. The composition reflects the coin type first introduced under Charles VIII in 1488 as the karolus, valued at 10 deniers tournois, and subsequently renamed the ludovicus under Louis XII. |

| Popis rubu | A floriated cross, known as a croix fleurdelisee, occupies the center of the reverse field, with the cantons decorated alternately: a fleur-de-lis appears in the first and fourth quarters, while the letter L is placed in the second and third quarters. The reverse legend, rendered in Gothic lettering, is a liturgical invocation from the Old Testament. The overall design is characteristic of French billon coinage of the early sixteenth century. |
