| Reverse description | A bold cross pattee dominates the central field, with a fleur-de-lis placed in each of the four quarters formed by the arms of the cross, an arrangement typical of French royal billon coinage of the period. The cross is deeply struck and displays the slightly irregular flan characteristic of hammered production. A circumscribed Latin legend in Gothic script encircles the design, invoking the Benedictus formula. The overall style conforms to the established reverse type of the dizain coinage of Francis I. |
