正面描述	Laureate and draped bust of Louis XIII facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing hair and a short beard, the drapery folded across the truncation. The date 1640 appears in the lower field beneath the effigy. The circumferential legend reads LVDOVICVS XIII D G FRANC ET NAV REX, separated by pellets, enclosed within a beaded border. The portrait is attributed to the masterful engraving of Jean Warin and displays a pronounced classical Baroque style characteristic of his medallic work.

A mint mark letter appears within a small inner circle at the centre. The circular legend CHRISTVS . REGNAT . VINCIT . ET . IMPERAT . runs along the periphery, enclosed within a beaded border. The overall composition reflects the grandeur of the French royal monetary reform of 1640 and the introduction of the Louis d'or coinage.
