Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, depicted in fine high relief characteristic of the early Macedonian royal coinage. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet with a prominent upright crest, the bowl decorated with an elaborate coiled serpent along the cheekpiece. Long wavy locks of hair fall in braided tresses beneath the helmet onto the neck, rendered with exceptional sculptural detail. The facial features are finely modelled in the Hellenistic style, conveying a serene yet martial character. The field is plain, with no legend on the obverse.

Reverse description Nike, the goddess of victory, standing to the left in flowing drapery, holding a wreath in her outstretched right hand and a stylis (ship's stern ornament) in her left hand, alluding to naval dominion. The ethnic legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ appears to the right of the figure in two lines, identifying the coin as issued in the name of Alexander. A bee symbol is placed in the left field, serving as a mint control mark. The composition is well-balanced within the broadly circular flan, with the figure rendered in the graceful Hellenistic style typical of the Pella mint issues.
