正面描述 Central field dominated by the elaborately composed tuğra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Ahmed I, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with bold upward strokes (tuğ) rising prominently above the curved baseline (beyze). The interlocking loops and sweeping arms of the tuğra fill the flan, with Arabic inscriptions incorporating the sultan's name and titles disposed within and around the monogram. The coin is enclosed by a dotted border running along the irregular circumference of the hammered flan.

附加信息

Ahmed I came to the throne in 1603 at roughly thirteen years old, immediately breaking Ottoman succession precedent by not executing his brothers — a policy shift that saved his sibling Mustafa but also introduced the later practice of confining princes to the kafes, or "cage." Aleppo was among the most commercially active mints in the empire at this period, serving the busy Levantine trade routes, and early Ahmed I issues from this mint show considerable variation in flan preparation consistent with high-volume, rapid production.
