توضیحات روی سکه Central field bearing the Shahada in multiple horizontal lines of Arabic script: lā ilāha illā Allāh waḥdahū lā sharīka lahū (There is no deity but Allah, the One, there is no partner to Him). An inner marginal legend in Arabic records the mint formula: bism Allāh ḍuriba hādhā al-dirham bi [mint] sana [year]. An outer marginal legend carries the Quranic citation from Surat al-Rum (30:4–5): li-llāh al-amr min qabl wa min baʿd wa yawmaʾidhin yafraḥu al-muʾminūn bi naṣr Allāh. The legends are separated by fine linear borders and a dentilated outer rim, characteristic of Abbasid-style hammered silver dirhams. The flan is slightly irregular and shows the characteristic fabric of early 4th-century AH provincial coinage.

اطلاعات تکمیلی

The Sajid dynasty governed Azerbaijan and parts of Armenia as semi-autonomous vassals of the Abbasid caliphate, and their coinage reflects that careful political positioning. Yusuf ibn Diwdad — the most capable ruler the dynasty produced — spent much of his reign campaigning against Armenian princes and suppressing Kharijite revolts in the region. His dirham issues span a quarter-century of intermittent warfare and administrative consolidation in territories where coin circulation was essential for paying troops.

Album 1479 places this squarely within Samanid-influenced provincial silver of the eastern caliphate. The Wilkes reference narrows attribution for collectors working the difficult overlapping mint attributions common to Sajid issues.
