| Reverse description | Central field inscribed with multiple lines of Arabic script in the Kufic tradition, naming the ruler Yazid ibn Ahmad with the title Shirvanshah, alongside a partial invocation to God and reference to the Prophet Muhammad. The inscription occupies the majority of the flan within a plain border, following the standard Abbasid-derived format for provincial Islamic dirhams. The strike is moderately well-centred though the irregular flan results in some peripheral legend loss. The overall design is purely epigraphic, consistent with contemporaneous Caucasian Islamic coinage of the late 10th to early 11th century. |
