Obverse description Central field occupied by the dynastic tamga of the Golden Horde, a distinctive Mongol tribal emblem rendered in bold relief. A circular Arabic legend surrounds the tamga, occupying the entire periphery of the flan. The coin is struck on an irregular, roughly prepared flan typical of Golden Horde hammered coinage of the late 13th century. The legends proclaim the unity and omnipotence of Allah in accordance with Islamic numismatic convention.
