Beschrijving voorzijde Hammered silver flan bearing multiple lines of Arabic script arranged within a rectangular cartouche framed by a plain linear border. The legend occupies the entire field and references the mint city of Marrakesh (Marrakech), with the AH date inscribed in the lower register. The coin exhibits an irregular flan shape typical of hammered Moroccan dirhams of the Alaoui dynasty, with slightly uneven edges and natural striking irregularities.

Aanvullende informatie

Sidi Mohammed III — more formally Mohammed ben Abdallah — rebuilt Moroccan maritime trade through the 1760s and 70s, reopening Essaouira (Mogador) as a purpose-built commercial port and negotiating treaties with multiple European powers. His monetary reforms aimed at standardizing silver coinage reflected that outward commercial ambition. The Marrakesh mint was among the most active under his reign, though output consistency varied considerably between striking sessions, and survivors show a wide range of centering quality as a result.
