| Reverse description | Reverse displaying a stylized Arabic-influenced ornamental design composed of interlacing curved strokes and geometric elements, interspersed with raised pellets both within and surrounding the central device. The motif, while derivative of Arabic calligraphy, is rendered in a highly abstracted and decorative manner consistent with the anepigraphic classification of this type. A border of pellets frames the design along the coin's irregular periphery. The flan shows characteristic weight variation and edge irregularities inherent to the hammered production technique. No legible inscriptions are present, distinguishing this issue as a purely ornamental type within the Bulghar dirham series. |
