Mansur along with the mint name Balkh and the regnal year. A circular marginal legend in Kufic Arabic script runs between the inner and outer borders, recording additional titles or Quranic text. The outer margin contains a further Arabic inscription between linear borders. The flan edges are crenellated and irregular, characteristic of hand-hammered Samanid dirhams struck at provincial mints. |
