The irregular flan edges reflect the hand-struck production method standard for Moroccan hammered coinage of this era. |

Moulay Sulayman's reign saw Morocco deliberately withdraw from European commercial entanglements — he closed several ports to foreign trade and suppressed the corsair networks his predecessors had tolerated. The coinage issued from Rabat al-Fath during this period reflects a mint operating under that same inward turn, producing for domestic religious and fiscal purposes with little concern for external legibility.
The 5th Standard designation within this type indicates a metrological revision within the series — Moulay Sulayman adjusted silver standards more than once during his reign as Saharan trade flows and Spanish reales imports fluctuated.
