Reverse description Central Arabic inscription occupying the full field of the roughly circular hammered flan, divided by a horizontal bar into two registers. The upper register bears the name 'عبد الرحمن' (Abd al-Rahman), identifying the reigning Alaoui sultan Moulay Abd al-Rahman ibn Hisham, while the lower register displays the AH regnal year '١٢٧٤' (1274 AH / 1858 CE) in Eastern Arabic numerals. The script is in Maghrebi style, with bold strokes and characteristic rounded letterforms. The flan edges are irregular and slightly wavy, as is typical of hand-struck Moroccan dirhams of this period. No border or ornamental frame is present.
