Obverse description Central field features multiple lines of Arabic Kufic script arranged in horizontal registers within a single inner circle, conveying the Shahada and mint formula. The primary legend reads the declaration of faith — 'There is no god but God alone, He has no partner' — with the lower registers recording the mint name Shash and the date 308 AH. A dotted inner border separates the central inscription field from the marginal legend, which runs continuously around the circumference. The die is struck on an irregular flan with visible die shift, and the coin bears a pronounced crack across the surface consistent with heavy circulation. The overall style closely imitates Samanid coinage of the period.
