Additional information

Mas'ud II's reign was anything but stable — he was placed on the throne, deposed, and restored multiple times as the Ilkhanate tightened its grip over the disintegrating Seljuk administration in Anatolia. By the 1290s the Rum Sultanate existed largely as an Ilkhanid client state, and coins struck in his name reflect that dependency: some issues were minted under direct Mongol supervision, with Ilkhanid overlord names appearing alongside his own.
