| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field occupied by multiple horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script arranged concentrically, containing the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) and the name of the Abbasid caliph. An inner marginal legend in Arabic script encircles the central inscription within a linear border, with a further outer marginal legend running along the periphery of the flan. The die-struck lettering is bold in relief against a flat field, typical of the Ghaznavid hammered silver coinage tradition. The flan is irregular and slightly off-centre, consistent with hand-struck production at the Nishapur mint. |
