| Obverse lettering | لا اله الا الله / محمد رسول الله / صلى الله عليه / الناصر لدين الله / امير المومنين (Translation: Field: lā ilāha illā Allāh / Muḥammad rasūl Allāh / ṣalla Allāh ʿalayh / al-Nāṣir li-dīn Allāh / amīr al-muʾminīn Margin: Ahar / [date] Field: There is no God except Allah / Muhammad is the messenger of Allah / May Allah bless him / al-Nasir li-Din Allah / the Commander of the Believers Margin: Ahar / [date]) |
| Reverse description | Central field contains a five-line Arabic inscription comprising the Shahada together with the titulature of Jalal ad-Din Mangubarni, the last Khwarazmshah, enclosed within a linear circle. The text acknowledges the Khwarazmshah's sovereignty in the traditional formulaic manner characteristic of vassalic coinage of the period. The legend is struck in angular Kufic script, consistent with copper issues of the Ahar mint in the early 13th century. |
