Reverse description Central field displays the prophetic mission statement arranged in multiple horizontal lines of Arabic script within a single inner circle, framed by a dotted inner border. The name of the Kharijite ruler Khalaf b. al-Muda' appears prominently as part of the reverse legend, departing from standard Abbasid reverses and asserting the issuer's political authority. A circular marginal legend surrounds the central panel, separated by concentric beaded borders in the manner of Abbasid-style dirhams. The flan is irregular with uneven edges, consistent with the hand-hammered technique of late 8th-century Islamic provincial coinage.
