| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse is entirely epigraphic, bearing multiple horizontal lines of bold naskh-style Arabic calligraphy filling the coin field. The central inscription presents the Shahada followed by the name and titles of the Abbasid caliph Al-Musta'sim Bi'llah, Commander of the Faithful. The lower portion of the field records the mint city of Konya (Quniya) and the AH date of striking. A decorative border of small star or pellet motifs encircles the outer margin of the die area, framing the inscribed field. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of hammered Seljuk silver coinage of the mid-thirteenth century. |
