The field surrounding the octagon is flat and undecorated, typical of late Ilkhanid dirham coinage. The inscription records the mint, date, and/or the name of the reigning Ilkhan Abu Sa'id, rendered in Naskh script in raised hammered relief. The irregular flan and variable strike result in partial legibility of the marginal legend at the dotted border. |
