Obverse description Aniconic design entirely composed of Arabic religious inscriptions arranged in horizontal lines within a central field, following the classical Umayyad epigraphic dirham tradition. The central field contains three lines of Kufic script bearing the Shahada and mint formula, enclosed by a single linear inner border. A circular marginal legend in Kufic script runs between two concentric linear borders, recording the mint name al-Andalus and the Hijri year of striking. The flan is irregularly shaped as characteristic of hammered Andalusian dirhams of this period, with the fields displaying good relief.
