The bold geometric device is executed in high relief in the angular Kufic tradition, with the ruler's name and the Prophetic formula disposed around and within the interlaced design. The legend naming Muhammad as the Messenger of God and identifying the issuing ruler al-Fadl ibn Shawur is integrated into the field. The flan is irregular with a well-worn hammered surface and oxidized silver patina. |
