Obverse description Central field bearing a four-line Old Uyghur inscription contained within a dotted inner circle. The legend reads the royal title and name of the issuing khan, identifying him as Sultan the Highest Ghiyath al-Din Toqtu the Just. The script is rendered in the characteristic cursive Uyghur style typical of Golden Horde coinage of the early 14th century. The flan is irregular in shape, as is standard for hammered dirhams of this series.
