| Obverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic legend in Naskh script, arranged in horizontal registers across the flan. The inscription names Sultan Tokhtamysh Khan with an invocation to Allah, executed in the bold, somewhat irregular calligraphic style typical of Golden Horde hammered coinage. The flan is irregular in outline, with the design slightly off-center as characteristic of hand-struck Mongol dirhams of this period. |
