Obverse description The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend in Naskh script, boldly struck in high relief against a flat, irregular flan. The central inscription proclaims the royal titulature of Khan Toqtamish, reading in translation 'Sultan the Just, Toqtamish Khan — may his reign be prolonged.' The legend is arranged in horizontal registers filling the field, with no figurative devices. A border of raised pellets encircles the inscription, typical of late Golden Horde hammered coinage. The strike is slightly off-center, resulting in partial legend visible at the rim.
