Obverse description Central field occupied by a three-line Arabic legend in Naskh script reading 'Sultan / al-Adil / Toqtamish' (the Just Sultan Toqtamish), executed in bold relief characteristic of late Golden Horde hammered coinage. The inscription is arranged within an informal rectangular cartouche formed by the interlocking strokes of the lettering. The flan is irregular and slightly cupped, with a plain border of small pellets partially visible around the periphery. The die is struck slightly off-center, a common feature of hand-struck Jochid dirhams of this period.

Reverse description Central field bears a three-line Arabic legend in Naskh script reading 'Darb / Khwarizm / 789' (Struck at Khwarizm, AH 789 / AD 1387), identifying the mint city of Khwarizm (modern Urgench) and the Hijri year of issue. The numerals are rendered in Eastern Arabic form. The surrounding field is plain, with the irregular flan edge exhibiting typical flow lines from the hammering process. The strike is moderately sharp at center with some weakness toward the margins, consistent with workshop production practices of the Golden Horde at Khwarizm.
