Obverse description Central field occupied by a four-line Arabic inscription in relief, struck in the characteristic cursive Naskh script typical of Golden Horde coinage. The legend reads the royal titulature of Khan Toqtamysh, identifying him as the Just Sultan Ghiyath al-Din Toqtamysh Khan, with an invocation that Allah prolong his reign. The flan is irregularly shaped, as is typical of hammered Jochid dirhams, with the legend partially visible toward the periphery due to the uneven spread of the die strike.
