Uzbeg Khan's conversion to Islam shortly after taking power in 1313 reshaped the Golden Horde's administrative and numismatic identity almost immediately. The Mokhshi mint — located in the middle Volga region, in what is now the Penza oblast of Russia — was one of the more active provincial strikes of his early reign, producing dirhams before the larger urban mints at Sarai and New Sarai absorbed most production volume.
The Sagdeeva 193 attribution places this squarely in the transitional window before Uzbeg's coinage conventions fully standardized across the Horde.
