Obverse description Central field bearing a bold two-line Arabic inscription in raised Naskh script reading 'al-Sultan al-Adil / Uzbeg Khan' ('The Just Sultan / Uzbeg Khan'), the legends occupying the full flan within a plain border. The hammered flan is irregularly shaped with characteristic flat striking surfaces typical of Golden Horde dirhams. No figurative imagery is present, in accordance with Islamic numismatic convention. The lettering is deeply struck with broad strokes, exhibiting the robust calligraphic style favored at the Khwarizm mint during the reign of Muhammad Uzbeg Khan.
