Aanvullende informatie

Muhammad Uzbeg Khan's reign (1313–1341) marked the peak of Golden Horde power, and his insistence on Islam as the state religion reshaped the administrative and minting apparatus across the khanate. Azaq — the Genoese trading post known to Europeans as Tana, at the mouth of the Don — operated as one of his most commercially active mints precisely because of its role in Black Sea trade networks dominated by Italian merchants.

The type 726 designation places this among a well-documented series for the reign, though the Azaq mint's output shows considerable die variation. The 1g weight reflects characteristic clipping and adjustment common to heavily traded Azaq issues.
