Additional information

Jani Beg's reign over the Golden Horde (1342–1357) marked a political high point for the khanate — he briefly occupied Tabriz and extracted tribute from the Ilkhanid successor states in Azerbaijan. The years 1351–52 fall squarely within this expansionist phase, when Mongol administrative infrastructure was functioning well enough to sustain a coherent silver coinage across dozens of mints, many of which remain unattributed. The undefined mint designation here is not unusual; Sagdeeva catalogued numerous Jani Beg dirhams whose mint names are either off-flan or struck from deteriorated dies.
