| Reverse description | The reverse presents the Islamic profession of faith (Shahada) in Arabic script arranged in multiple horizontal lines within a square or rectangular cartouche: 'There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God.' Below the Shahada, the mint name Majar (ماجر) is inscribed, followed by the AH date 767, corresponding to 1366 CE. The legends are boldly struck in relief but show characteristic flatness and flan irregularity associated with the hammered coinage of the Golden Horde. The overall composition follows the standard epigraphic design convention of Jochid silver dirhams of this period. |
