Obverse description Central field bears a three-line Arabic Kufic legend arranged within a plain inner circle, reading the Shahada declaration: 'La ilaha illa Allah / wahdahu la sharika lahu' (There is no god but God, alone, without partner), with the name 'Abd Allah b. Tegin' inscribed in the lower register. A marginal legend in Kufic script runs around the circumference between the inner circle and the irregular flan edge, partially legible due to the hammered striking. The die is executed in the angular Kufic style characteristic of Samanid-imitative issues, with bold strokes and horizontal dividing lines separating the text registers. The flan is broad but uneven, typical of Volga Bulgarian dirham production.
