Obverse description Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic epigraphic legend in bold, angular Naskh script, comprising the name and titles of Sultan Ala ad-Din Kai Kobad I. The inscription is arranged in three horizontal registers filling the flan, with small six-pointed star ornaments serving as decorative separators between the lines. The strike is characteristically irregular, as typical of Seljuk hammered coinage, with the legend occasionally running off the flan edge.
