Obverse description Central field occupied by a square frame containing multi-line Arabic legend in bold relief, with the ruler's name and titles arranged in horizontal registers within the square. A dotted border encircles the square cartouche, and an outer circular margin carries an additional Arabic inscription running around the periphery of the flan. The die work is characteristic of Ayyubid hammered silver coinage, with deeply cut calligraphic naskh script. The irregular flan shows typical striking characteristics of 13th-century Syrian mint production.
