Reverse description Central square cartouche framed by a double dotted border contains a multi-line Arabic inscription in angular Naskhi script, giving the ruler's full titulature: 'al-Malik al-Nasir Yusuf, Honour of the World and of the Faith.' The marginal legend outside the central square records the mint and date formula in the name of God, indicating striking at Damascus in the relevant Hijri year. The flan is irregularly round, as typical of Ayyubid hammered dirhams, and the legends are boldly struck with slight weakness at the edges due to the hand-striking technique.
