| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a central field of multiple horizontal registers of Kufic Arabic text, including the name of the Abbasid caliph al-Mustakfi Billah and Quranic verse (Surah 9:33) affirming the mission of the Prophet. An inner circle and an outer marginal legend encircle the central inscription, separated by a beaded border. The mint name Madinat al-Salam (Baghdad) and the AH date appear within the marginal or field inscriptions. The epigraphy is angular Kufic, typical of Abbasid silver dirhams of the 333–334 AH period. |

Al-Mustakfi's caliphate lasted barely two years before the Buyid commander Mu'izz al-Dawla entered Baghdad in 945 and reduced the office to a ceremonial shell — the first time real power had been so openly stripped from an Abbasid caliph in favor of a foreign military dynasty. Coins struck in al-Mustakfi's name during this window represent the last dirhams issued under anything resembling Abbasid political autonomy. He was blinded and deposed by Mu'izz al-Dawla in 946.
