| Descripción del anverso | Hammered silver flan of irregular round form bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in angular Naskh script arranged within the field. The legend reads the royal titulature of Sultan al-Ẓāhir Baybars I, proclaiming him 'al-Malik al-Ẓāhir, Pillar of the World and the Faith, Baybars, Partner of the Commander of the Faithful.' The inscription fills the central field without a formal border, consistent with Mamluk hammered coinage of the mid-thirteenth century. The surfaces are worn and slightly flat-struck, typical of hand-struck dirhams of this period. |
