Reverse description Reverse field displays multiple lines of Arabic inscription in naskh script arranged in horizontal registers, likely containing the Shahada (Islamic profession of faith) and/or the mint name al-Qahira (Cairo) with the regnal date expressed in the Hijri calendar. The flan is irregular and slightly broader than perfectly round, with characteristic hammered surface texture. Peripheral areas show weakness of strike with partial loss of legend, as is common for Mamluk dirhams of this period. The field between legends is plain, with no additional decorative elements.
