| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by a bold square Kufic inscription arranged in an interlocking geometric cartouche, a characteristic decorative device of Ilkhanid coinage. The angular Arabic legends fill the field in a highly stylized manner, with the text compartmentalized into horizontal and vertical registers creating a labyrinthine effect. A marginal legend in cursive Naskh script runs along the inner border of the coin, partially visible on this irregularly shaped flan. The hammered flan is slightly uneven, typical of late Ilkhanid production, with some weakness at the periphery. The overall design reflects the epigraphic tradition of Ilkhanid silver dirhams issued under Abu Sa'id Bahadur Khan. |
