| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Vespasian facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian mint. The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic broad features with a laurel wreath encircling the head. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤΟΚ ΚΑΙΣ ΣΕΒΑ ΟΥΕΣΠΑΣΙΑΝΟΥ, identifying him as Autocrator Caesar Augustus Vespasian. The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hammered Egyptian provincial bronze coinage of this period. |
