Reverse description An eagle with wings closed stands in left profile upon a thunderbolt, its head turned slightly forward in the characteristic Ptolemaic eagle type that became the emblematic reverse device of the dynasty. A lotus blossom, a potent symbol of Egyptian royal and divine imagery, is depicted in the left field. The reverse carries the royal legend ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ arranged around the eagle, identifying the coin as an issue of King Ptolemy.
