| Obverse description | Griffin seated to right in the field, its body shown in three-quarter view with folded wings rendered in fine relief, the head turned to face right with open beak and alert expression. The right forepaw is raised in the characteristic Tean civic type. The design fills the flan with confident archaic-influenced modeling, the musculature of the haunches and the layered feathering of the wings executed with notable precision for a small denomination. |

| Reverse description | A chelys (tortoise-shell lyre) depicted facing, with the resonating body rendered as an oval shell from which two upright arms rise and are joined by a crossbar, the strings indicated between the yoke and the body. The magistrate's name MENTΩP is inscribed in Greek letters arranged vertically to the right of the lyre, reading downward, occupying the right field of the coin. |
