Abdera's coinage is unusual in the Greek world for its systematic magistrate-naming convention — each issue pairs the city ethnic with a named official, making attribution more precise than most contemporaneous Thracian series. Kleantides appears in May's corpus as one of several magistrates active during the city's prosperous mid-fourth-century period, before Philip II's Macedonian expansion began squeezing Thracian coastal autonomy. The "var." designation against May 301–302 suggests a die combination not fully catalogued, worth recording carefully.
