Ainos — the Thracian coastal city at the mouth of the Hebros River — was a member of the Delian League during this period, paying tribute to Athens following the consolidation of Athenian power after the Persian Wars. The city's coinage of this decade is tightly datable because Ainetan tribute records appear in the Athenian Tribute Lists beginning around 454 BC, providing an unusually precise anchor for the series.
