The design fills the irregularly shaped field, consistent with the archaic Greek hammered coinage tradition of Lesbos. No legend or inscription is present. | Descrizione del rovescio | Incuse square punch containing a calf's head facing right, rendered in raised relief within the sunken quadratum incusum, a hallmark of early Lesbian electrum and silver coinage adapted to the fractional silver series. The calf's head is depicted with visible fleece texture and a small horn above the brow, set against a recessed, lightly granulated field. The square incuse border is clearly defined, with slightly uneven sides reflecting hand-struck production. No legend or inscription appears on the reverse. |
