Obverse description Eagle standing left, wings spread, clutching a hare in its talons; the bird is rendered with fine detail in the high-relief style characteristic of late Akragantine coinage. The partial ethnic legend ΑΚΡΑ appears to the left in the field, rendered in archaic Greek lettering. The composition is dynamic and naturalistic, reflecting the accomplished engraving tradition of late fifth-century BC Sicily.
