| Beschrijving voorzijde | A fig leaf rendered in fine archaic style, depicted facing with a prominent central midrib running vertically through the coin's field and clearly delineated lateral veins radiating symmetrically to either side. The leaf fills the flan almost entirely, its lobed outline conforming to the irregular round planchet. The relief is bold and naturalistic for the period, characteristic of Kamiran coinage of the early fifth century BC. |

Kamiros was one of the three major city-states of Rhodes before the synoikism of 408 BC unified them under the new city of Rhodes, effectively ending Kamiros as an independent issuing authority. This diobol falls within the archaic period of that independent mint, predating the Persian Wars and the political reorganizations that followed Greek victory.
The Rosen and Keckman concordances place this type within a tightly defined sequence, suggesting a relatively brief emission window rather than a prolonged series.
